General Information

Bubble with excitement as we offer you numerous chances throughout the term to sail.
We run Wednesday sailing sessions every week in term-time on a reservoir in the Peak District and all levels of sailing ability are welcome, whether you be a complete beginner or a more advanced sailor. We also have two University Team Racing teams that race Fireflies at University events across the country.
If you're not already a member, don't worry! We're very welcoming to new members. Joining the sailing club is a great way to meet new people (see some photos from our amazing socials and sailing), make new friends, and learn / continue a great sport! About Us : The club aims to provide an inexpensive way to give students the opportunity to begin sailing, or to continue sailing regularly while studying. Students of all levels are very welcome to come along and join us. Sessions are held that cater for all standards and aim to bring everybody up to a competent and safe level. Currently, our membership numbers over 80, including several international sailors and instructors.

We run two successful teams that take part in numerous team racing events throughout the year. Individual pairs can shine at the fleet racing events we also enter. We promote club members to be active outside the sailing club and provide an environment for good sailors to come together and create new partnerships.

The club's fleet of three Fireflies (kindly sponsored by the University of Sheffield Alumni Foundation and The Eric Twiname Trust) and seven fully equipped Laser II racing dinghies are sailed regularly at our home club of Pennine Sailing Club both for team training and handicap fleet racing. These boats are also extensively used at team racing events throughout the country. We sail on Wednesday afternoons (and some Saturdays). Signup, online, here.
